Why I Support Mammoth Hospital:

Carolyn Escoto

My family and I are proudly investing in the North Wing Project because we're investing in the future of a hospital that has given us, and our community, so much.

-Carolyn Escoto

Carolyn Escoto's connection to Mammoth Hospital began more than 20 years ago, when her family foundation helped fund an X-ray arm for the Emergency Department. Inspired by the hospital's dedicated physicians, she later joined the Mammoth Hospital Foundation Board.

Over the years, that early investment became deeply personal.

"I learned that I didn't have to be in a big city to get the world-class support I needed."

A few years ago, after breaking her femur while skiing, Carolyn was brought to Mammoth Hospital, where the very X-ray arm her family had helped purchase was used to diagnose her injury. Cared for by physicians she knew not only as doctors but also as fellow Foundation Board members, she made a full recovery.

Then came a life-changing cardiac emergency that gave her an even greater appreciation for her community hospital.

"Like many who live here, I've wondered if I could truly grow old in the Eastern Sierra. After a recent cardiac event required me to be flown to Las Vegas for a procedure, I know the answer is yes. The team at Mammoth Hospital managed my care with incredible expertise, ensuring I got exactly where I needed to be safely. The hospital is not the limiting factor in living here—it is the very thing that makes it possible."

That experience also gave Carolyn a new appreciation for the North Wing Project and the healing impact of private patient rooms, welcoming family spaces, and a comforting environment.

Today, she's stronger than ever, having recently returned from the backcountry ski adventure of a lifetime in Switzerland.

"My family and I are proudly investing in the North Wing Project because we're investing in the future of a hospital that has given us, and our community, so much."
