Brian Venneman was a quintessential Mammoth local, working multiple jobs to build a life in a town he loved. When he was diagnosed with lymphoma in his early 30s, he faced a challenge familiar to many in the Eastern Sierra: the need to travel far from home for specialized treatment.

The travel was incredibly taxing. The experience of driving home alone after chemotherapy, often having to pull over sick on the side of the road, solidified his mission: to make sure no one else in his community had to endure that journey alone. This was the inspiration for the Cancer Outreach Fund.

Brian recovered and embraced life, even getting married in a ceremony as "Mammoth" as it gets—skiing down Hole in the Wall to his bride waiting below.

Tragically, his cancer returned as metastatic melanoma, and Brian passed away in 2014. But his legacy was already firmly planted. The Cancer Outreach Fund he inspired was growing, supported by the annual Brian Venneman Memorial Cancer Outreach Golf Tournament .

In a testament to the program's profound, full-circle impact, Brian's friend Dennis—who helped organize the very first fundraiser for him—later became a beneficiary of the program himself after his own cancer diagnosis.

Brian's legacy is a powerful reminder that in our community, no one has to face the road to recovery alone.
